The Need

Christ the King Episcopal Church is a joyful Christian community located in Atascocita, Texas. Founded in 1977 on the east side of Lake Houston, the mission was to serve Episcopalians in Crosby and Huffman and the surrounding areas. The beginning years included worship held in private homes, at Huffman Elementary School, and, for a brief period, in a shopping mall. The current church building was completed in 1991 and is located on the west side of Lake Houston. We moved across the lake so we could also serve Episcopalians living in and moving to Atascocita, which is one of the fastest growing communities in the area. Over the past 24 years, Christ the King has been a spiritual home offering meaningful worship through our beautiful Episcopal liturgy and serving our community through support of Humble Area Assistance Ministries, Lord of the Streets Episcopal Church, Churches United in Caring, and Family Time Crisis and Counseling Center.

In order to continue our mission, “to be a light, living as a witness to Christ’s love, serving and nurturing all”, we must invest in our future. Imagine generations to come gathering to pray, worship, study scriptures, and break bread together—just as the disciples did (Acts 2:42). This campaign seeks to assist Christ the King in living into this vision.

Sanctuary Repairs/Improvements

As good stewards of our current property we will repair the roof, paint the sanctuary, install a new sound system with improved microphones, updated speakers, and devices to assist the hearing impaired, and install double doors to allow easy access to the new parish hall.

New Parish Hall
A new parish hall will provide sufficient space for church gatherings, such as Bishop’s visits, weddings, and funerals. A serving kitchen as well as storage for tables and chairs will allow this space to be adapted for our needs. A multipurpose classroom will provide space for our youth group and allow us to engage in other educational opportunities. This new ministry space will increase the sense of welcoming we can offer to our parishioners, guests, and the community.

Parking Lot Repair and Lighting
A new parking lot will be safer, more welcoming, and accommodate additional parking spaces. New LED lights will make the parking lot bright, safe, and inviting.
