The Need

Through the Stepping Into the 21st Century capital campaign, we will raise $326,000 to renew St. John’s and prepare ourselves for a future of expanded ministry. With your help, we will accomplish the following…

A Welcoming Place
Make St. John’s More Accessible: $42,500

Our parish’s ability to be a welcoming place is at the core of our sense of mission and call today. Our ethic of Welcome is grounded in God’s welcome of us and compels us to work toward making our building fully welcoming and accessible to all people.

Those with special needs currently have no or difficult access to a restroom facility at our church. Through the campaign, we will create an ADA-accessible, family restroom on the upper level. This will improve access and demonstrate our respect for the dignity of every human being.

A Transformed Place
Equip St. John’s for 21st Century Ministry: $61,731

Our building shows signs of aging and wear. It is also increasingly difficult to grow our church family in a space that lacks current technology. These projects will do improve design, appearance, and usefulness of our facilities.

Refreshed Guild Room Equipped for 21st Century Ministry Needs. The carpeting will be replaced with a stain-resistant insulated tile. All walls will be repainted and trim refinished. New furniture will make the room functional for every activity and new audio/visual equipment will make the room better equipped for committee work, classes, and Movie Night. $26,751

Refreshed Parish Hall Equipped for 21st Century Ministry Needs. The Parish Hall will be refreshed with a new stage curtain to improve acoustics, window treatments, and new flooring. $20,675

New Stove and Mechanicals for Kitchen & Loving Spoonfuls. Our attempts at replacing our stove and range system have been stymied by aging mechanical systems. This upgrade will replace our aging stove and upgrade the mechanical system to bring the kitchen up to code, thereby ensuring the safety of our Loving Spoonfuls ministry and providing necessary equipment to feed the hungry now and into the future. $14,305

A Refreshed Place
Commit Ourselves to Sustainability: $189,850

These projects will make us better stewards of God’s creation—and they make sense financially. Savings realized through these projects will strengthen St. John’s financial capacity for mission and ministry. In all construction work, we will make sustainable choices.

Roofing Improvements. The roofs over the Parish Hall complex and Nave will be replaced with 50-year architectural shingles that will safeguard our space. The roofing work will require adding insulation and the removal and rework of the copper gutters and downspouts to meet the edges of the new roof. $157,850

Updated Mechanical System for our Heating and Cooling. Our aging and inefficient pneumatic system will be replaced with a modern system that can adjust to occupancy use and building schedule, saving money on our utilities, and also making our space more comfortable. $32,000

Also included in the campaign goal are expenses including fees for consulting services, communications, and administrative support. $31,919

Q&A

Where did this plan come from?

Don't we have money for maintenance (like a new roof) already set aside?

What if we don't raise the full amount? Will the roof still be replaced?

What happened to the money Loving Spoonfuls donated for the Master Plan Creation?

When will the work start?

What do I do if I have a question not answered here?
