The Need

Our cottage meetings in the fall of 2017 and subsequent parish meetings revealed goals for our life together, now and in the future. The Building for Community capital campaign will renovate our Parish Hall and facilities to create a more welcoming and accessible space for all.

These initiatives will strengthen Christ Church in three important ways:

1. Create Welcoming and Attractive Space for All

The new Parish Hall and bathrooms will be more appealing to people of all ages. The projects will include a new family bathroom with easier access for parents with young children who need assistance and a shower for overnight youth events.

The nursery and Sunday school classrooms will be brightened with new paint and carpeting and a stair lift will make the entire facility accessible to those with mobility issues.

2. Maximize Use of the Buildings

The major reconfiguration of our Parish Hall will transform how our facilities connect and function. By creating a hallway that bypasses the center of the space, the parish hall will be more welcoming, private, and flexible. A sound system will increase the usefulness of the space for a wide variety of events, benefitting both our church community and those in the Hudson community. The stair lift will allow access to all levels of Beebe House and will make the offices, Upper Room, and Hand/Conference rooms accessible meeting spaces.

3. Preserve and Increase Efficiency of the Buildings

The Building for Community campaign will protect our buildings and make them more efficient. LED lighting has already been installed, reducing energy expenses dramatically. Painting and other work has already been completed on the Chapel and will be extended into Beebe House, preserving these historic buildings well into the future. New carpet in Beebe House and a new floor in the parish hall will provide a durable, easy-to-clean solution, and new appliances will be installed in the Upper Room kitchen.

Our goal of $1,642,000 includes a $100,000 maintenance fund. The goal also includes funds for construction expenses, design fees, fundraising expenses, and budgets for inflation. Our feasibility study shows that this goal is attainable, and we encourage your generous response to this major opportunity to strengthen community at Christ Church.
