The Need

FOR WORSHIP

We are blessed by St. John’s sacred space and music, and so is the community as we host Finger Lakes Chorale concerts, various recitals and visiting musical groups; however, time and the elements have taken a significant toll, and restoration is needed for the future. Through this campaign, we will replace our early 1900s organ console, restoring and re-voicing the pipes. We will also preserve our glorious stained glass windows, making the necessary improvements so that new, clear acrylic covers can be installed. Cost: $365,000

FOR WELCOME

We are known for our welcome of new parishioners and guests; but St. John’s physical structures and facilities don’t all represent the warm embrace we offer to visitors and newcomers. Through this campaign, we will provide a handicapped accessible bathroom on the same level as the foyer and sanctuary, ensuring that all our members and guests remain comfortable and safe. We will also install energy efficient windows in the education wing and dining hall to increase comfort and reduce energy bills. Cost: $24,000

FOR SERVICE

Withington House is an underused resource within our parish, yet only minimal improvements will allow us to create much more purposeful spaces for ministry and fellowship. Through this campaign, we will secure the structure, update electrical and plumbing systems, and make repairs to the chimney cap, roofing, carpentry, porches. and basement. Also included in this expense are campaign resources, to include the fees for communications and consulting services, the feasibility study, postage, and administrative support. Cost: $153,000

CHALLENGE GOAL

St. John’s Vestry is committed to completing campaign projects without incurring long-term debt through external loans. In the interest of good stewardship and outreach, any and all funds exceeding our campaign goal will directed toward the continued renovation of Withington House. By reaching or exceeding our challenge goal, many more of the repairs needed to stabilize the building can be accomplished. In alignment with our “pay as we can” commitment, and through a generous pledge for our organ console replacement, we hope to have organ improvements and replacement begin this fall. Challenge: $564,264
