The Need

Honoring our sacred space means being good stewards of the legacy of Trinity Episcopal Church—caring for the quality of our facilities as well as the stewardship of our resources. Through your generous gift to the Honoring Our Sacred Space capital campaign, you will enable:

Comfortable, Cost-Efficient Heating & Cooling: $1,000,000

Trinity Episcopal Church is heated and cooled by multiple HVAC units, all of which are old and expensive to maintain and use. Through our capital campaign, we are asking your help to replace the current HVAC system with one that is environmentally and financially advantageous to Trinity and its parish family.

Trinity’s current HVAC system, which heats and cools the Parish Hall, Nave, and Education Building, is approximately 30 years old. This unit is long past its life expectancy and has become costly to maintain and use. In the past three years, approximately $250,000 of Trinity’s pledged budget has gone to maintain the system. Parts are difficult to find, often delaying repair work. Due to the age of the system and its design, the cost of cooling the entire building is a huge expenditure. We currently have additional units that serve different areas of the church and building. They are also old, poorly designed, and require continued maintenance.

The new HVAC system will be a zoned system that will allow only the areas of the facility that are in use to be heated and cooled. A new system would be environmentally friendly and operate more economically. The costs for installation would also include an update of the electrical system required by code to operate the new HVAC system.

With lowered costs in maintenance and utilities, Trinity would see increased budget funds to be used for ministries and outreach.

Renovated, Accessible Restrooms & Kitchen: $250,000

By meeting our challenge goal of $1.25 million, we would be able to renovate our restrooms and kitchen, making Trinity more welcoming and effective.

Bathrooms. Not only is Trinity used daily by many people, it is often the location for weddings and Diocesan functions. Our current restrooms are well worn and not ADA compliant. Both the men’s and women’s restrooms are purely functional. These facilities frequently require the aid of a plumber to address ongoing issues. The areas are not well heated or cooled, and lighting is a problem. New configurations and updated plumbing fixtures would be added to all restrooms, making these facilities (and our church) accessible to all.

Kitchen. Trinity’s kitchen is a gathering place for cooking and conversation. However, upgrades are needed. The stove and plumbing require frequent maintenance. Plumbing and electrical are not up to code. The dishwasher is not large enough to handle large gatherings and does not fit the cabinet space. The kitchen is not heated and cooled sufficiently. And several falls in the kitchen have required medical attention. With the reconfiguration of the cabinets and island, new countertop, flooring, and new stove, the kitchen would become the heart of Trinity. Plans include enlarging the coffee bar opening for serving and redesign of the pantry. By renovating the kitchen, Trinity would have a safe, modern, and attractive environment in which to prepare meals or gather for coffee.

By raising our primary goal, we can address our HVAC needs.
By raising $250,000 more, all of the above can be completed.
