The Need

Iglesia Episcopal Dominicana, the Episcopal Church in the Dominican Republic, has been a part of The Episcopal Church for over 120 years. There is a rich history of close relationships with partners in the United States throughout the church’s formation. Many missionaries from the United States have served in the Dominican Republic, expanding the church into areas without Anglican roots. In 1991 the Rt. Rev. Julio Holguín took over leadership of the diocese and began building on the foundation of his predecessors. Bishop Holguín retired on November 1, 2017, and was succeeded by the Rt. Rev. Moisés Quezada, who had been elected bishop coadjutor in June 2015 and consecrated in February 2016.

In celebration of Bishop Holguín’s 26 years of ministry and leadership, we ask for your participation to contribute funds to raise the endowment of the Episcopal Diocese of the Dominican Republic to the level of self-sufficiency to allow future ministries to soar.

The Dominican Development Group (DDG), a non-profit
organization within The Episcopal Church, was established in
1998 to coordinate the work of Episcopal mission teams from the United States working in the Dominican Republic and assist the Episcopal Diocese of the Dominican Republic with program planning and construction expertise with a long-term goal of financial self-sufficiency.
