The Need

We all love our kids, and the education they receive at Mechanicsburg Area School District. However, your tax dollars don't cover everything. New initiatives, some capital improvements, and extracurricular activities are supported through the Wildcat Foundation, a 501(c)(3) education foundation.

Thanks to the generous support of our community, the Wildcat Foundation installed the synthetic turf field, improved parking, and provided bleacher seating at John H. Frederick Field. With donor support, the Foundation built the Trails and Trees Environmental Center on South York Street. Every year, the Foundation raises and distributes funds to help our kids have the best educational experience possible.

The Current Need

The field and stadium in Memorial Park have been upgraded by the Wildcat Foundation through previous efforts. However, much of the District's "front porch" has not been updated in over 70 years and is inadequate for the level of activity the stadium attracts each year: from Music in the Park and Literacy Night Under the Lights, to numerous athletic activities (District III and PIAA playoff contests; Youth Football and League Championship; Youth Field Hockey; practice field for field hockey, lacrosse, football).

Through this $2.5 million Building the Future Together capital campaign, we will raise the funds needed to provide:

Ticketing Booths

Relocate the existing archway commemorating the John H. Frederick Memorial Field to allow installation of a canopy that welcomes visitors and integrates with new ticketing booths.

Support Facilities

Repurpose existing block structures for use as functional, modern support facilities. The current team rooms will become ample and modern public restrooms as well as an officials' locker room with showers. A training room and storage space will also be provided.

The existing concession stand will be updated and the blocked structure scrubbed, re-clad and roofed.

Rich Lichtel Field House

A modern field house will be constructed to accommodate two teams of 60, with lockers, restrooms, and bench seating.

Hall of Fame

The natural walkway between the locker rooms will enable us to include existing memorial plaques and expand upon them, recognizing MASH alumni who made the ultimate sacrifice in our nation's armed conflicts, and recognize those inducted in the the MASD athletic hall of fame.
